Westshore squad hosts winless Huskers at Westhills Stadium

Still looking for their first win of the B.C. Football Conference season, the Westshore Rebels return to the friendly confines of Westhills Stadium for a game tomorrow (Aug. 15) against the Valley Huskers.

The Rebels are coming off a 60-11 loss in Kamloops to the Broncos. The Huskers also come into the game 0-3, having only scored 17 points so far this season.

Game time is 3 p.m. The theme is Military Recognition. Camo-style memorabilia will be available, with proceeds going to the Military Family Resource Centre.

Last weekend in Kamloops, the Rebels fell behind 39-1 by halftime, but finally broke into the end zone in the third quarter, when quarterback Ashton MacKinnon raced in for a touchdown.

The big pivot collected a team-high 73 yards rushing on the day, while  connecting on 19 of 41 passes for 272 yards.

Jordan Worth had a solid game offensively, catching seven passes for 112 yards and rushing for another 45.

Receivers Hunter Lake, with 70 yards, and Nick Spindor, with 62, also helped move the chains.

Jacob Palmarin was a wrecking crew for the Broncos on the day, rushing for 193 yards and five touchdowns.
