Red Apple rolls into Agassiz

New store brings candy shop, clothes and more into empty Fields location

Signs for Red Apple went up at the old Fields location in Agassiz last Thursday, and this week the company issued a statement announcing the store’s opening.

While the head company that bought Fields earlier this year had announced the store would become The Bargain! Shop, Red Apple signs have been popping up across B.C. TBS Acquireco Inc. is opening moire than 30 Red Apples in stores that were Bargain! Shops or were to become them.

And opening day is getting closer, the release announced. The Agassiz location is expected to open on Sept. 14., at 9 a.m. along with 10 others. By the end of the month, the company will add 20 more locations.

They describe Red Apple as a store for fashion, home and food, as well as a Willy Wonka style “candyworks” candy shop.

“I can’t wait to welcome the Agassiz community into Red Apple,” said Agassiz store manager Cassandra Curdie  “Our entire staff is excited to offer our valued customers the best product selection, best value and best customer service in town.”

The company said in their issued release that they are planning an “aggressive rollout plan through to 2015.”

An announcement was made in March that Fields in Agassiz would be closing, along with the entire flagship, previously owned by the Hudson Bay Company. TBS announced shortly after that it was purchasing several of the Fields location. Fields in Agassiz closed on July 15 this year.
