The Nanaimo Redmen made the most of a mismatch on Sunday.
The city’s Vancouver Mainland Football League team crushed the Burnaby Lions 65-0 at May Richards Bennett Pioneer Park.
The damage could have been worse if the Redmen, up 51-0 at halftime, hadn’t eased up on the hapless visitors.
Quarterback Todd Hansen made three touchdown throws – two to Alex Kutra and one to Kyle Davies – and also scored 15 points with his foot, kicking two field goals, eight converts and a rouge.
Kalden Keen had two rushing touchdowns and Ethan Schulz and Davies also scored rushing TDs. Jaxxen Wylie had a 107-yard kickoff return for the other major. Schulz, Trent Wright and Riley McEachern made interceptions.
GAME ON … Next action for the Redmen is Sunday (Sept. 25) on the mainland against the North Delta Longhorns.
