Former Brookswood Bobcats coach Scott Reeves has been named the Canada West coach of the year.
Reeves, the coach of the Thompson Rivers WolfPack women’s basketball team, led his team to an 18-2 record to capture their first division title.
“Awards like this truly belong to the team,” Reeves said.
“This has been a terrific year for our team and they deserve all the credit.
Every day they show up and work hard on the game plan. They work hard in the classroom and have gained tremendous support by our community of Kamloops. I am so happy for our team.”
“I would say this recognition comes through hard work and a culmination of the efforts to find the best student athletes to represent our women’s basketball team,” added Thompson Rivers athletic director Ken Olynyk.
“Scott has been persistent and true to form in his quest for excellence in the classroom and on the court, which is evidenced in both the number of academic all canadians on our women’s team along with the all star recognition of our women’s student athletes.”
Reeves coached the Brookwood Bobcats to three provincial senior girls AAA championships before leaving to take the job at Thompson Rivers following the 2006 season.
