Melanie Bernie and her teammate Janelle Smily of the United States finished fourth on the women’s side in the Pierra Menta, a four day stage race through the French Alps last week.
Andrew McNab and his teammate Reiner Thoni finished 15th out of 171 teams on the men’s side.
Both results are amongst the best ever for North Americans at the race, which is traditionally dominated by Europeans.
The women’s race was won by the team of Laetita Roux and Miro Miereia, who finished more than 45 minutes ahead of second place. The men’s race was much closer, with the French team of William Bon Mardio and Matheo Jacquemoud taking the top spot.
The four day race included more than 9,000 metres (30,000 feet) of climbing and descending over more than 80 kilometres distance.
