Ringette tournament draws hundreds

Teams of all ages hit the ice in Langley for the annual Michelle Vandale Spirit of Winter ringette tournament

Hundreds of ringette players hit the ice as part of the ninth annual Michelle Vandale Spirit of Winter ringette tournament in Langley over the weekend.

The three-day tournament featured teams from as young as the U10 division, all the way to the masters division. There was also a Canada Winter Games exhibition division as teams ready for the Canada Winter Games in late February.

The tournament was held at Aldergrove Arena, George Preston Recreation Centre and the Walnut Grove Sportsplex.

The tournament also presented three recipients with the Michelle Vandale Memorial Scholarship, with the money to be used towards post-secondary education for a ringette athlete, coach, executive member or official.

This year’s recipients were Terri-Lynn Sudom ($1,000), Stephanie Saito ($750) and Megan Howes ($750).
