Riptide teams in fine form at BC Soccer A-Cup championships

U14 Boys finish first, U15 Girls take second and U16 Girls place third

Upper Island Riptide teams turned in strong performances at the BC Soccer A-Cup championships, July 7-10 in Burnaby.

The U14 Boys defeated Delta Coastal Selects 2-0 to take top spot in their division. Riptide (2-1-0) finished second to Delta (2-0-1) through pool play. The Upper Island squad defeated VUFC Golazos 2-1, lost 2-0 to Delta and beat Surrey FC 3-2 before blanking Delta in Sunday’s final.

The U15 Girls finished second, falling 3-2 to Delta Coastal Selects in the final. Delta (2-0-1) topped the pool standings with Riptide (1-0-2) second. Upper Island beat Kamloops Blaze 3-1 and drew 1-1 with both Richmond FC and Delta.

The Riptide U16 Girls finished third in their division, defeating Kamloops Blaze 2-1 on Sunday. Upper Island (1-2-0) finished third in pool play, defeating Kamloops 3-2, losing 1-0 to Vancouver FC and falling 4-2 to West Van FC Rangers.
