The Nanaimo Riptides were quick to touch the wall at Island championships earlier this month. The city’s indoor swim team had a contingent at Vancouver Island Regionals in Victoria from June 8-9.
Ry Della Rosa set a club record in the 100-metre freestyle, Mackenzie Crane set one in the 100m backstroke and Baylee Munro established a new club mark in the 100m breaststroke. Another highlight of the meet was Hannah Stuart recording her first AA time.
Top-three results from regionals include:
12-and-under girls – Claire Boudrot, third, 100-metre breaststroke, third, 200m breast.
13-14-year-old boys – Reid Della Rosa, third, 100m breast, third, 200m breast.
15-and-over girls – Mackenzie Crane, second, 1,500m freestyle, third, 200m backstroke, third, 100m free; Taylor Snowden-Richardson, first, 800m free.
15-and-over boys – Baylee Munro, second, 100m breast, third, 200m breast.
