Riptides win at regionals

Nanaimo swim team wins in individual and relay races at Vancouver Island Regional Championships in Victoria.

The Riptides rocked at regionals.

The Nanaimo swimmers won individual and relay races at long-course Vancouver Island Regional Championships in Victoria June 8-10.

Mackenzie Crane won Island titles in three of her races, including swimming’s fastest race, the 50-metre freestyle. Gage DellaRosa won Island titles in two races.

Results include:

10-and-under girls – Aileen Humphreys, fourth, 50-metre breaststroke, fourth, 100m breast, fifth, 200m freestyle relay; Grace Thornton-Trump, fifth, 200m freestyle relay; Abby Shoesmith, fifth, 200m freestyle relay; Katelyn Irving, fifth, 200m freestyle relay.

10-and-under boys – Michael Houghton, fourth, 50m breast.

12-and-under girls – Maria de Leeuw, second, 100m breast, fourth, 200m breast.

12-and-under boys – Reid DellaRosa, fourth, 50m free, fourth, 100m free, fifth, 100m breast, fifth, 200m breast.

13-14-year-old girls – Mackenzie Crane, first, 50m free, third, 100m free, first, 200m free, third, 400m free, third, 800m free, first, 100m back, second, 200m back, second, 200m medley relay; Kara Wilson, second, 100m breast, fifth, 200m breast, second, 200m medley relay; Alayna Crane, second, 200m medley relay; Maria de Leeuw, second, 200m medley relay.

13-14-year-old boys – Gage DellaRosa, first, 100m breast, first, 200m breast.

15-and-over girls – Kara Declark, third, 50m free, third, 100m free, third, 200m free, fourth, 200m back.

15-and-over boys – Tristan Crosby, third, 100m back; Baylee Munro, fourth, 100m breast, fourth, 200m breast, third, 200m medley relay; Adam Rahier, fifth, 200m individual medley, third, 200m medley relay; Colin Tearoe, third, 200m medley relay; Damon Pedersen, third, 200m medley relay.
