Nine players recognized for contributions to Langley junior A hockey club

The Langley Rivermen handed out their year-end hardware at the team’s awards banquet earlier this week (March 16).

And captain Kevan Kilistoff took home the junior A hockey club’s most valuable player award after posting a career high with 66 points. He also had 25 goals this past season.

Jake Kearley won the top defenceman award while Marcus Vela was the top forward.

It caps off a stellar season for Vela (20 goals, 46 points) who represented Canada West at the world junior A hockey challenge and also skated in the 2015 CJHL Prospects Game.

Kearley led all Rivermen blue-liners with eight goals and 31 points.

Goaltender Bo Didur won the team’s unsung hero award, backstopping the team to a career-high 20 wins and personal-best 3.06 goals against average. He also skated in the CJHL Prospects Game.

Hunter Anderson (most improved), Zac Masson (most dedicated), Matthew Graham (energy player), Cole Williams (most community-minded) and Gage Torrel (fan favourite) were also recognized.

Sylvia Allenby was named the volunteer of the year.
