Langley junior A hockey club pounds Surrey 10-4, but drops 4-2 and 3-2 decisions to Chilliwack and Salmon Arm

After exploding for a season-high 10 goals in a victory over the Surrey Eagles, the Langley Rivermen were held to four goals over their next two games combined in a pair of losses.

The junior A hockey club seemed to score at will in that first contest on Nov. 5, a 10-4 victory over the Eagles at the Langley Events Centre, the team’s third straight victory.

Langley managed 10 goals on just 38 shots as they struck for four goals in the first period, and then three apiece in the final two periods.

Zachary Bleuler (two goals, two assists), Matthew Graham (two goals, one assist) and Dominic Franco (two goals) led the way with multi-goal games.

Logan Mick (one goal, two assists), Justin Fregona (one goal, one assist), Max Kaufman (one goal) and  Matty Saharchuk (one goal) had the other tallies while Justin Szeto (three assists) and Jordan Schneider (two assists) had multi-point games.

Nickolas Trenciansky made 26 saves for the win.

The next night at Chilliwack’s Prospera Centre, the Rivermen managed just a pair of goals, one apiece from Fregona and Franco in a 4-2 loss to the Chiefs.

Langley lost despite a 32-20 shot advantage.

And back at the LEC the next night, the Rivermen were burned by one of their former players as Chase Zieky scored a hat trick in a 3-2 victory for the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.

Torrin White and Graham had the Rivermen goals.

Bo Didur was in net for both losses, making 16 saves the first game and 29 in the latter.

The Rivermen sit at 12-8-0-0 and third spot in the Mainland Division.

The team will look to return to the win column when they host Coquitlam on Wednesday afternoon (Nov. 11) at 3 p.m.

It is the start of a busy week for the club as they also have three games in less than 72 hours this weekend on the road against Powell River, Nanaimo and Alberni Valley.
