Shawn Rogers will be stepping down as the SilverBacks’ director of marketing. Replacing Rogers on June 15  will be Josh Gordon. Gordon joined the club in January 2011 as the director of ticket sales.

Rogers moved to Salmon Arm nine years ago from Red Deer, Alta. where he was the director of athletics marketing at Red Deer College. The 43-year-old North Bay, Ont. native will be opening his own business and plans to stay in Salmon Arm.

During his eight-year tenure in the BCHL, Rogers says he has witnessed many positive changes within the league, most notably the greater emphasis placed on marketing and promotion, plus the addition of several new arenas.

The trip to the league championship final versus Nanaimo during the 2003-2004 season was one of Rogers’ favourite memories, along with the Interior Finals against the rival Vernon Vipers in 2008-2009 and 2010-2011.

“Other wonderful memories include watching the players graduate onto scholarships and professional hockey. During my time with the SilverBacks, there have been so many talented athletes. This community has been so fortunate to watch players like Andrew Ebbett, Brady Murray, Travis Zajac, Kris Chucko, Ryan Duncan, Bryan Gillis, Mark Zengerle, Bryan Gillis, Bobby Lipsett, Mike Hammond and David Killip to name just a few,” said Rogers.

“I would like to thank team owners Randy and Terry Williams for the opportunity to work for them over the past four years, as well as Garry Davidson, who originally brought me to Salmon Arm. I have had the honour and pleasure of working alongside some incredible people including Myron Crown, Gerry Hay, Rylan Ferster, Phil Stewart, Dave Penner and all of the game night staff. I could not have not have done it without their support,” commented Rogers.

Owners Randy and Terry William thanked Rogers for his hard work and contributions, and wished him well.

“It has been a pleasure working with Shawn; he has truly been a very valuable employee to the organization during this time. As many people in the community know, Shawn is very well liked and will be missed.”
