Grant Iles snapped a 1-1 tie with a dozen minutes remaining to send the Aldergrove Kodiaks to a 3-1 victory over the Mission City Outlaws.
The teams traded goals — Aldergrove’s Adam Callegari on a first-period power play and Mission’s Eddie Lalonde in the second period at the Mission Leisure Centre on Jan. 17 in junior B PJIHL hockey action.
But Iles, an affiliate player suiting up for Aldergrove for the first time, snapped home the winner at 8:19 of the third period. Stefan Gonzales added an empty-net goal in the final minute of play.
Joshua Cronin finished with a pair of assists.
Cole MacInnes made 19 saves for the win as Aldergrove dominated throughout the game, firing 41 shots — including a 30-5 advantage over the final 40 minutes — on goaltender Jared Knott.
Aldergrove will look to stretch their win streak to three games when the host the North Delta Devils on Jan. 23 at the Aldergrove Arena.
The Kodiaks, who have won 12 of their past 13 games, are five points back of Abbotsford in the race for top spot in the Harold Brittain Conference.
