Dorothy Olive Franklin Memorial Tournament was May 15. The annual provincial tournament commemorates a person who gave many years to ladies golf both at the provincial and national level. Proceeds are used to help send promising junior girls to out-of-province or international tournaments. This year’s local winner is Pat Gartrell. The Summerland Golf and Country Club Ladies Club also held the annual Heritage Day to celebrate past members. Retired members are invited to play golf and/or come for lunch.
A low gross/low net competition was held at the same time.
First flight: first low gross, Lil Smith; second low gross, Doreen Butterworth; first low net, Margo Humphreys.
Second flight: first low gross tied, Ruth Daviduk and Pat Gartrell; first low net, Louise Mitchell; second low net, Jackie Martin. Third flight: first low gross, Ellen Clay; second low gross, Hedy Sewell; first low net, Marion Enns.
Senior Men’s Golf Tournament was May 17.
First flight: first net, Gary Greves of Peachland, 68; second net, Garth Humphries, 69; third net, Dwain Sandrelli, 71 (count back); fourth net, Greg Flook, 71.
Second flight: first net, Frank Davie, 68 (count back); second net, Reg Crane of Peachland, 68; third net, Ken Sobchuck, 70 (count back); fourth net, RJ McInnes, 70.
Third flight: first net, Stew Macauley of Peachland with 68; second net, Dave Hellard, 69; third net, Reg Minty of Peachland, 71; fourth net, Herb Williams of Peachland, 73.
Fourth flight: first net, Lynn Brown with 67; second net, Armond Gregoire with 70; third net, Bob Benallick with 72; fourth net, George Carswell of Peachland with 76.
Deuce winners were Garth Humphries, Les Brough, Ken Sobchuck, Neville Crane, Ron Grimsgard and Ken Beggs.
