The U16 Shuswap Selects boys team is two-for-two.
Under summer temperatures Sunday on Kelowna’s Mission turf field, the Selects played and won their second game of the season, defeating Kelowna 3-1.
In a tough physical game where several Selects came home with bumps and bruises, the Salmon Arm team was leading 1-0 at the half. Kelowna came back to score one but in a see-saw contest, the Selects again took the lead. It was a good transition game, where the team was able to quickly reverse the play and attack the Kelowna goal after an attack on their own net.
A tying Kelowna goal was waved off by the referee after a Kelowna forward pushed over a Select defender just prior to scoring.
A hard-fought game right to the end, the Selects managed to settle things with a third goal just minutes before the final whistle.
The team faces Kamloops at home on Sunday.
