Another O’Keefe has been recognized by a university in North Dakota.

Minot State University men’s golf has signed Karson O’Keefe to an institutional letter of intent to being playing for the Beavers in 2012.

O’Keefe, from Blind Bay, will be reunited with older brother Kowan O’Keefe, who is currently red-shirting after a solid freshman season in 2010-11.

“We will have a strong upperclassmen group returning next season, so we were looking for one or two real solid players,” said MSU head coach Chipper Farrell. “Karson fits that perfectly. He will be a big part of the team’s future.”

Karson is a multi-sport athlete at Salmon Arm Secondary who has excelled at hockey as well as helping the golf team to a AAA High School Provincial Championship in 2010. He was the individual medalist at the High School Zone Championships and finished fourth at the Okanagan Valley Championships in 2011. He has a RCGA Handicap of 2 and has fired a tournament-best 72.

Minot State will begin competing in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference next fall.
