Senior A Timbermen suffer two close losses

The senior A Nanaimo Timbermen lost 8-7 to the Coquitlam Adanacs on Saturday, then 9-7 to the Maple Ridge Burrards the following night.

The Nanaimo Timbermen had chances to win both their games on a weekend road trip, but couldn’t find a way to come up with victories.

The senior A T-men lost 8-7 to the Coquitlam Adanacs on Saturday, then 9-7 to the Maple Ridge Burrards the following night.

The second game was actually a closer contest than the first game. Nanaimo got the score to 8-7 with more than 10 minutes left in the third period, but couldn’t manage a tying goal and the Burrards got a short-handed marker with five minutes left.

Ryan Lee scored a hat trick to lead Nanaimo in that game, Cody Bremner had a goal and three assists and Jake Cullen, Brett Hawrys and Kyle Hofer were other scorers. Pete Dubenski and Mike De Girolamo split time in the crease in the contest, combining to face 54 shots.

The night before, Randy Jones scored four goals for the Timbermen and Lee, Conrad Chapman and Bremner were the other scorers. Dubenski made 39 saves as shots were 47-42 for the home team.

GAME ON … The T-men play just one game this coming weekend as they host the Langley Thunder on Saturday (June 11) at Frank Crane Arena. Fans should note an early 6 p.m. opening faceoff.
