Shamrocks look to add to win streak

Victoria and Coquitlam seniors tangle for first time this WLA season

After four straight victories, followed by a well-deserved nine-day break, the Victoria Shamrocks hit the floor this Friday night (June 19) in Western Lacrosse Association action at The Q Centre.

The ’Rocks (4-2) play Coquitlam Adanacs for the first time this season, in a game set to start at 7:45 p.m. The Shamrocks haven’t played since they beat the Langley Thunder 16-6  back on June 10 over on the mainland.

Victoria leads the league in scoring so far, with 67 goals for, more than double the offensive output of Coquitlam.

Heading into this week’s play, Shamrocks Rhys Duch (25), Cory Conway (24) and Corey Small (23) sat third through fifth, respectively, in the league point-scoring parade. Small and teammate Scott Ranger were tied for third in goals with 10, while Duch and Logan Schuss of New Westminster were tied for first in assists with 17.

As well as the Friday game, the Shamrocks’ weekend also includes a trip to Maple Ridge on Sunday to play the Burrards. Victoria beat Maple Ridge 12-11 in their last meeting and 13-6 back on May 31.
