Shuswap icebreakers defeat Kelowna

Salmon Arm's ringette team skates past Kelowna to a 4-1 victory.

The Shuswap Icebreakers faced Kelowna in Rutland this past weekend, skating away with a 4-1 victory.

The Icebreakers blasted out of the gate with three unanswered goals in the first period.  Scoring for Shuswap were Jordan Turner, Chloe Latosky and Mikaela Curdyk – the second and third goals coming just 28 seconds apart.  Kelowna would finally solve the Icebreaker’s netminder half way through the final frame, but the visitors proved too tough for the home team on the back of a strong defensive effort from Teagan Findlay, Emma Gollan, Hannah Patterson, Heidi-Leigh Boileau and Natasha Kociuba. Bethany Wilson sealed the victory for Shuswap, scoring with just under eight minutes left to play in the game.

The Icebreakers travel to Enderby to face Vernon this Saturday.
