A silver medal and four qualification times are the net result of the Trinity Western Spartans track and field team’s efforts over the weekend at the University of Washington Invitational.
Sarah Inglis clocked the fastest 3000m time of any CIS athlete this season, finishing in 9:04.77. The time was a new Spartan record and also earning her the silver medal at the Dempsey Indoor track and field meet in Seattle.
She bested her own school record by nearly 22 seconds.
And Inglis was one of three Spartan athletes to earn automatic qualification times in the event as she was joined by Fiona Benson (sixth place, 9:20.98) and Regan Yee (13th, 9:29.06).
TWU’s Meg Harradine also competed at the meet, placing 22nd in the 800m.
And on the men’s side, Declan White set a TWU record in the 3000m with a time of 8:05.94 to finish 10th. He also made his CIS qualification standard.
Also in the event was Joel De Schiffart who placed 21st.
And James Linde had a pair of top-eight finishes in his respective events.
Linde was seventh in the 60m hurdles and eighth in the long jump.
