The Nanaimo Old Knights' Hockey for Cancer old-timers' tournament was a success, organizers say.

Sometimes a tie can be a bit unfulfilling, but that definitely wasn’t the case at the Hockey for Cancer old-timers’ tournament this past weekend.

“With 16 teams competing for the Fun Award, all 16 teams won the Fun Award,” said Tom Russell, tournament chairman, in a press release.

The charity tourney, held at Frank Crane Arena and Cliff McNabb Arena, was a complete success, said Russell.

All the weekend action, he said, resulted in one- or two-goal games.

The Nanaimo Old Knights, who hosted the tournament, are still calculating the event’s proceeds. Money raised will go to the Canadian Cancer Society.
