The Sardis Slammers U-19 fast-pitch girls blew out the North Langley Heat in the championship game, taking gold at last weekend’s Vernon Summer Classic tournament.
The locals went 2-1 in round-robin play, advancing to the knockout round a game against Vernon.
Julia Kilbrai pitched four shutout innings, helping the Slammers to an 8-0 win. Jaimee Fournier and Sam Alsip were offensive standouts with first baseman Kendra Johnson shining on defence.
The Slammers snuck past the Kelowna Homers in the semi-final, with Alsip pitching her team to a six-inning nail-biter win.
Kenzie Johansen had the big shot in the 9-2 championship game thumping of North Langley, clubbing a home run as her team mercy-ruled the Heat after five innings.
Defensively, Nathania Braun made some nice catches in centre field.
Terri Harbut, Sydney Lavallee, Kirsten Eggertson, Ashlyn Einer and Sarah Timmons all contributed.
