The Chilliwack Slammers plated 17 runs, blitzing the Abbotsford Blazers in a Friday night double men’s fastpitch doubleheader.
The Slammers took a 7-2 decision in the first game, led by pitching ace Clayton Beck. The hurler went six strong innings, striking out nine Abby batters.
Right fielder Rob Woodrow paced the Slammer attack, going three-for-four at the dish and driving in three runs. Catcher Todd Morrison was two-for-four with two RBIs. Center fielder Noel Sharman scored three runs and had two stolen bases.
Chilliwack sent newcomer Adam Tuck to the mound for the rematch. Tuck surrendered one run in the first and three in the fourth, bit did well to scatter eight hits. He struck out four and got defensive help from shortstop Rod Spitzig, who knocked down several hard-hit balls that would have counted as hits.
The Slammer offence scored five in the third, three in the fourth and two in the fifth.
Left fielder Reid Schurmann went two-for-three, driving in two runs.
Second baseman Chad Buckle and Derek Tarumoto both had three RBIs.
Chilliwack’s back in action Thursday night, visiting Shelcam Construction at Abbotsford’s Centennial Park.
