Nanaimo’s undefeated Upper Island Storm U14 rep A girls’ soccer team won B.C. Soccer’s Coastal Cup on Sunday in Aldergrove, defeating West Coast Metro 3-1.

Jazmine Wilkinson scored twice in the cup final, with Olivia Ory also tallying. Lydia Maughan was the winning goalkeeper.

The Storm had qualified for the final two weeks earlier, when they edged the Coquitlam Metro Ford Rebels in penalty kicks at the end of a 2-2 game at Merle Logan Field. Ava Alexander had both her team’s regulation-time goals.

The Coastal Cup, determining the champions of the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island, was previously known as the Sun Tournament of Soccer Champions and has been held since 1953.

The Storm are 21-0 this season in regular-season and cup matches, and 26-0 including exhibition play. The team won the Island championship in March and will compete at B.C. Soccer’s provincial championships in Burnaby in July.
