Eighteen Chilliwack Spartan swimmers went head to head with B.C.’s best at last weekend’s Swim B.C. AA Provincial Championships.
The Spartans had home-pool advantage at the meet, hosting it at the Landing Leisure Centre.
They took full advantage, earning several podium placements.
In the 11 and under girls group Emma Evans won gold in the 50m freestyle and silver in the 100 and 800m freestyles.
She just missed the podium in the 200m freestyle, finishing fourth. In the same division, Emily Jou appeared in three finals.
In the 12-13 year old girls division, Brooklyn Gerber swam in four finals, snagging silver in the 200m individual medley.
She was fourth in the 200m backstroke.
Spartan teammates Jessica Jou, Julia Maria Hirch and Halle Causton combined for six finals appearances.
On the boys side, Randolph McInroy qualified for finals in each of his four events, with a high placement of sixth in the 100m breaststroke.
Sheigh Ann Gaudette won two medals in the 14-and-over girls group. Gaudette scored silver in the 100m breaststroke and bronze in the 200m breaststroke. Gaudette, Mackenzie Campbell and Madeline Charest combined for six finals appearances.
Chilliwack’s 12-and-under 200m freestyle relay team of Gerber, Evans, Taegan Factor and Mary Rose Jerodico battled to bronze.
The open division team of Hirch, Mckenna Postles, Halle Causton and Jaelyn Bjornerud-Brown finished eighth in the same stroke and distance.
The 14-and-under quartet of Campbell, Gaudette, Charest and Jessica Jou finished fifth in the 200m freestyle and sixth in the 200m individual medley.
