Sports highlights from the past week in the 100 Mile House area.

KIJHL bid denied

Applications by Quesnel and Williams Lake groups to join the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League have been denied.

The KIJHL governors gave the thumbs down at a special meeting in Castlegar on Jan. 22. Because the KIJHL is developing anew strategic plan that will set the direction and future of the league, the governors decided not to expand at this time.

Wranglers to take on storm

The Wranglers continue their quest for their second consecutive Doug Birks Division title with a home-and-away series withthe Kamloops Storm this weekend. The Wranglers travel to Kamloops on Jan. 27, and then host their division rivals at theSouth Cariboo Rec. Centre on Jan. 28. The puck drops at 7 p.m.

Skating clinic

There will be a cross-country skating clinic at the 99 Mile Ski Trails in 100 Mile House on Jan. 28 from 9:45 a.m. to noon. Theclinic is designed for adult skiers with at least some experience. Pre-registration required by phoning or e-mailing GaryCarlson at 250-395-2063 or carlsong@xplornet.com.
