Mountain bike action at Rumble Mountain and the annual Logger's Golf Tourney

Port Alice opens its arms — and the slopes of Rumble Mountain — to the more adventurous of Vancouver Island’s mountain bikers this weekend with the annual Rumblefest mountain bike series Saturday and Sunday.

The weekend kicks off with the cross-country race starting at the marina and racing through town and over the slopes, beginning at noon Saturday. That is followed by the party, including bike rodeo and demos and salmon feed, culminating with the ceremonial midnight bike burning.

Action reaches a fever pitch Sunday morning with the Rumble Tumble Downhill race, beginning with trial rides at 10 a.m. Race begins after each rider has taken one trial run.

Registration info and forms are available online at rumblefest.com, or contact the Community Centre at 250-284-3912 or pacc@cablerocket.com. Day-of-race registration is available at the Legion Hall.
