Sportsfreaks men’s slo-pitch team wins playoff championship

The Sportsfreaks won the South Okanagan Mens Slo-pitch League playoff championship for the third straight year.

The Sportsfreaks are three-peat winners of the South Okanagan Mens Slo-Pitch League playoff championship.

After winning the regular season title for the first time since 2011, the Sportsfreaks defeated Quest 23-20 for the championship.

The Sportsfreaks went 3-0 in the playoffs defeating the Diggers 24-20 and the Wolfpack 25-18. Their match against the Quest was a back-and-forth affair.

“The difference on this year’s team compared to previous years was base hitting and hitting with runners on base,” said Tony Orioli of the Sportsfreaks. “This years team scored 523 runs, an average of 23 per game.”

In the regular season, the Sportsfreaks went 18-2 in 20 games, while Quest went 17-3.
