Steveston on target at provincial darts

The defending champs reached the podium for a second straight year at the annual Army, Navy and Air Force provincial dart shoot

The defending champs reached the podium for a second straight year at the annual Army, Navy and Air Force provincial dart shoot held at Vernon’s ANAF Unit #5.

But, instead of gold, the quartet of Wayne Morrison, Dalton Desmarais, Kevin Desmarais and Paul Cavanagh won silver, beating out the bronze medal-winning Vernon Team #1 of Chris Ledrew, Travis Busis, Garrett Hammer and Romy Heimstra in a tie-breaker.

Gold went to the team from Unit #284 Steveston (Richmond), made up of Wayne To, Michael Shiu, Jim Dagenais and Len Cowan.

Nine teams from Vancouver, Steveston, Kelowna, Penticton and Vernon competed in the tournament.

Special mentions go to Vernon’s Glen Sochan, who shot a perfect 180.

Men’s high scorer was Dalton Demarais of Vernon. Men’s high out was recorded by Ken Evans of Penticton.

Ladies high scorer was Mary Bhar and Ladies high out went to Romy Heimstra, both from Vernon.

Next year’s championship will be held at Unit #284 Steveston.
