Storm stars shine at district track meet

Adrianna Lunt and Levi Halfpenny won three events apiece at last week's district high school track meet.

Chilliwack secondary school athletes collected 11 gold medals at last week’s district track and field meet.

Adrianna Lunt was a star performer in the senior division, taking top spot in the 100 and 200 metre dashes and long jump.

Levi Halfpenny did the exact same on the senior boys side, with Jofer Castillo adding gold in the high jump (1.70m).

In the junior girls division, Caitlin Leblance finished first in the 800 and 1500m runs, and Lily Law led the javelin field with a toss of 20.97m.

Law reeled in one of six silvers snared by CSS stars, placing second in the triple jump (8.76m).

Zuzana Urbaniova placed second in the senior girls’ 800m run and high jump, and Jonah Castillo scored silver in long jump (4.02m).

Castillo added bronze in the 100m dash.

On the senior boys’ side, Dom Cote was second in the 100m dash with a time of 12.04 seconds.

Mark Dennie placed second in the 200m dash with a time of 26.16s.

Kevin Kim was third in triple jump (10.65m) and Cody Lucas was third in shot-put with a toss of 8.88m.

CSS athletes compete in the Upper Fraser Valley Championships, running Wednesday and Thursday at Abbotsford’s Rotary Stadium.
