Stuart scores twice in T-Birds victory

Langley's Brodi Stuart and Baxter Anderson share team lead with 28 points apiece

The Fraser Valley Thunderbirds and Valley West Hawks traded home-ice victories to remain in a neck-and-neck race for fourth place in the BC Major Midget Hockey League standings.

The Thunderbirds are 16-8-3-1 and their 36 points have them one ahead of the Hawks.

The Thunderbirds prevailed 3-2 as Brodi Stuart scored on a penalty shot with 43 seconds to play. The goal was his second of the period while Justin Plett had a first-period marker for the team.

The game was played Saturday at the Abbotsford Recreation Centre.

Boston Bilous picked up the win.

The teams then hit the ice on Sunday at the Langley Events Centre with the Hawks winning 4-1.

Baxter Anderson, who had two assists in the victory the day before, had the lone Fraser Valley goal.

Stuart and Anderson are tied for the team lead with 28 points apiece.

Fraser Valley visits the South Island Royals for a pair of games this weekend.
