A misfire while trying to turn a double-play in the bottom of the 10th inning allowed the Seattle Studs to score the winning run in a 5-4 victory over the Langley Blaze.
The two senior men’s baseball teams were playing in the championship final of the Kamloops International Baseball Tournament at Norbrock Stadium.
This was the sixth consecutive year the Studs have been the event.
Langley has battled back from a 4-1 deficit to force extra innings, scoring twice in the fifth and once more in the sixth.
Michael Dagg, Jackson Gooch, Billy Germaine and Jesse Peters each drove in a run for Langley.
Kristjan Storrie, who came on in the ninth inning, took the loss.
Langley went 3-2 at the tournament, beating the Everett Merchants 7-4, hammering Burnaby Collegiate 18-2, and then losing 7-5 to the Kamloops Sun Devils.
The Blaze bounced back from that loss to beat Everett 3-1 to advance to the championship game.
Peters pitched a three-hitter in that semifinal victory with Germaine hitting a two-run home run in the eighth to snap a 1-1 tie.
Germaine was named the tournament’s most valuable player and top hitter with a .529 batting average. He also led in both home runs (two) and RBIs (seven).

The Blaze play the Coquitlam Angels on July 12 in Coquitlam before hosting the Burnaby Bulldogs at McLeod Park on July 13.
They also face the Studs twice more this weekend.
The teams will play Saturday at McLeod Park at 5:30 p.m. and then on Sunday at 10 a.m. at Abbotsford’s Delair Park.
