Summerland athletes have strong showing at BC Summer Games

Okanagan athletes swept the boys triathlon at Albert Dyck Lake during the BC Summer Games last weekend

A strong run from Keegan Ingram saw the Summerlander claim silver as Okanagan athletes swept the boys triathlon at Albert Dyck Lake during the BC Summer Games last weekend.

Ingram also took home two personal silvers, with a 14:52 finish in the  duathlon, and a 8:14 in the aquathlon.

Jason Scherban is also bringing home a couple of silver medals, with a 2:05.33 finish in the boys’ 800 metre, and a 3:19.90 time in the 1200m.

Summerland athletes also helped Okanagan teams take silver: Sola Heming in Towed Water Sports; Justin Fotherby and Brooklyn Parliament in relay swimming.

The 2016 B.C. Summer Games took place from July 21 to 24 in Abbotsford, with nearly 3,000 athletes, 500 coaches, and 400 officials participating in 18 sports, including three sports for athletes with a disability.

Putting it all together were about 3,000 volunteers.
