The Penticton Pikes have had a tremendous start to their summer season.
Swimmers from both Penticton and Summerland have had incredible results in the Okanagan and in Washington.
After completing three Okanagan meets where the club brought home many aggregate age group medals as well as the Top Sportsmanship Team in Salmon Arm, the Pikes headed off to Washington for one of their best meets of the summer. In Washington, Pikes team brought 30 competitive swimmers, with 26 of the 30 achieving best times at this meet.
The Pikes representative for the guts and glory 400 IM in Washington was Sarah Newsted who swam an incredible race, finishing with a best time, pulling ahead of her competitor in the lat 25 metres.
Head Coach Elliot Clarke said the future is bright for this group of swimmers.
There are many first year competitors who are dropping huge amounts of time already as well as some seasoned swimmers who continue to improve.
The atmosphere as a team is incredible which pushes the swimmers to new levels.

The Pikes are made up of Summerland and Penticton swimmers.
The club will host the regionals, which is a qualifier for the Provincials on the first weekend in August.
