After shooting a course-record 63 en route to victory at the Pitt Meadows Classic May 7-8, the 25-year-old Abbotsford golfer picked up two more wins in quick succession to run his VGT streak to three.

At Royalwood in Chilliwack on the weekend, Taylor opened with a two-under 70 on Friday, and followed that with a sizzling nine-under 63 on Saturday to edge James Allenby by one stroke. Taylor’s terrific final round featured a scorching 29 on the back nine.

“I had a stretch where I hit the ball great and made some key putts,” said Taylor, who earned $2,200 for the victory. “I went six under par for five holes on the back nine, after really just making some good pars when the wind really picked up on our front nine. When the wind died down that’s when I started to make the most out of the day.”

The next event on the VGT schedule was a Monday-Tuesday tourney at Chilliwack Golf Club, and Taylor once again emerged victorious. He opened with a typically outstanding seven-under 64 to seize the lead, and closed out the win with a 67 to edge former UFV golfer Clark MacPherson and Brad Clapp by one stroke.

“Even when my putting hasn’t been going on all cylinders, my ball striking has been really good on those days making it a lot easier to score,” noted Taylor, whose third consecutive win netted him $2,300.

With four of the VGT’s six “majors” in the books, Taylor boasts 18,000 points in the order of merit standings, 7,000 ahead of his nearest pursuer Darren Wallace. The order of merit champ will collect a bonus cheque of about $3,500.

Taylor’s schedule starts to heat up in June – he’s participating in sectional qualifying for the U.S. Open on June 3 at Tumble Creek Golf Club in Cle Elum, Wash., and the PGA Tour Canada (formerly Canadian Tour) schedule opens on June 6 with the Times Colonist Island Savings Open at Victoria’s Uplands Golf Club.
