The Evansville Icemen, led by Trail natives Todd Robinson and Steve Makway, won three of four games this past week to launch them into a tie for first place in the CHL Turner Conference.
Robinson contributed with four goals and four assists in that stretch, including a shorthanded goal and an assist in a 4-1 win against Tulsa Sunday. Robinson tops the CHL in scoring with 15 goals, 50 assists for 65 points. He is presently on a six-game scoring streak and has contributed with 16 multi-point games this season.
Steve Makway meanwhile continues to lead the league in scoring among defencemen with four goals and 30 assists including 17 points in his last 19 games. The rugged Makway has a very respectable +9 and has also earned the second most penalty minutes on the squd with 97, behind team-leader Mario Boillard, 144 minutes.
Coach and former Trail resident Rich Kromm’s Icemen have 28 wins, 13 losses and four ties for 60 points and a game in hand on the Fort Wayne Komets. Their 16-home wins are the most in the conference.
