The Langley Events Centre will be volleyball central for the next four days as both the BC 2A and 3A senior boys volleyball provincial championships come to town.
The championships begin today (Wednesday) and conclude on Saturday.
And three local teams will be gunning for the podium, including the top-ranked 2A team, the Langley Christian Lightning.
The Lightning enter the tournament as the Fraser Valley champions, which is no small feat as the top four ranked 2A teams are all from the Fraser Valley.
That includes the fourth-ranked Langley Fundamental Titans — who won silver at last year’s provincial championships — and the two-time defending champion MEI Eagles, who are seeded fourth.
There are 16 2A teams competing.
The 3A field features 20 teams, including the fourth-ranked Walnut Grove Gators.
The Gators won the Fraser Valley league title before losing in the Fraser Valley championship gold-medal game last week.
The 3A gold medal game is Saturday at 5 p.m. with the 2A championship game set to follow at 7 p.m.
