The Langley Thunder broke through with their first win of the season, defeating the Nanaimo Timbermen 11-8 on Saturday night.
The senior A Thunder were on Vancouver Island for a pair of Western Lacrosse Association games, falling 11-8 the night before to the Victoria Shamrocks.
The weekend split leaves Langley with a 1-4 mark.
In Nanaimo, Langley led from start to finish as they scored a season-high 11 goals.
Mitch McMichael led the way with three goals and four points while James Rahe had a goal and three helpers. Derek Lowe (two goals, two assists) also had four points while both Cole Shafter and Brandon Clelland had a goal and two assists.
Dustin Doulet and Mitch McDole rounded out the scoring with a goal and an assist apiece.
Rocky Bowman stopped 49 of 57 shots for the win as the Thunder were outshot 57-45.
The win came on the heels of an 11-3 loss in Victoria.
Rahe had two of the team’s three goals while Brandon Bull had the other.
The Thunder were outshot 49-29 in the game.
Langley will look to make it two in a row as they visit New Westminster on June 16.

The Langley Junior Thunder bounced back after having their three-game winning streak snapped.
The junior A lacrosse squad lost 11-6 on June 9 to New Westminster, but improved to 5-7 after an 18-10 win over the Junior Timbermen in Nanaimo on Saturday.
Nathan Mckeigan led the offence with five goals and eight points while Dylan Lacroix (four goals), Christian Bosa (three goals, two assists) and Mitch McDole (two goals, five assists) also had multi-goal games.
Zach Wickett stopped 39 or 49 shots for the win.
Against New Westminster at the Langley Events Centre, the Thunder fell behind 4-0 after one period and could not recover.
Mckeigan led the offence with two goals and an assist while Alek Gibbs had a goal and three helpers.
The Thunder are on the road tonight (June 15) against the Delta Islanders.

The Langley Intermediate Thunder improved to 9-3 after a 16-9 win over the Shamrocks in Victoria on Saturday afternoon.
