The Thunder brought a big boom to South Surrey Sunday.
The White Rock-South Surrey Thunder ‘04 girls’ softball team won the provincial championship at the newly renovated Softball City.
It’s the first time the South Surrey White Rock Minor Softball Association has won at the U12B level.
Led by head coach Ross Martin, the team of 12 local girls boasts five pitchers and five catchers, because Martin believes development at this level is key. He teaches his players that softball is more than a game — that it helps build character and patience, along with teamwork skills.
The Thunder ‘04 had a big season, winning gold in all four tournaments they entered. They finished the year with a record of 53 wins, three losses and one tie.
