Langley bantam girls lacrosse team was one goal away from finding the podium at provincial championships in Maple Ridge

A heartbreaking double overtime loss prevented the Langley Thunder from finding the podium at the B.C. minor box lacrosse bantam girls provincial championships in Maple Ridge.

The Thunder fell 3-2 to New Westminster 1 in the third-place game on Sunday.

Langley  finished the tournament with a record of 2-3 in pool play. The team lost to New Westminster 2 7-2 in the opener, lost 7-5 to Ridge Meadows, beat Port Coquitlam 5-4, lost to New Westminster 1 6-3 and beat Nanaimo 12-4.

Natalie Rathler earned a Warrior Fair Play Award.
