Thunder offence silent as team goes winless last week

Goals hard to come by for Langley senior A lacrosse team as they lose once, tie other game

A lack of goals is costing the Langley Thunder.

The senior A lacrosse team scored just 11 times in a pair of games last week, earning a single point for their efforts.

The Thunder played to a 7-7 draw with the New Westminster Salmonbellies on June 19 at the Langley Events Centre.

The team then hit the road on Friday, getting doubled up 8-4 by the Burnaby Lakers.

The results leave Langley at 5-3-1 and in third place in the Western Lacrosse Association.

After opening the scoring with Shayne Jackson’s goal, the Thunder fell behind 4-2 after one period.

Kyle Belton pulled Langley to within a goal early in the second, but that was as close as they would get as the Lakers closed the period with two more scores to lead 6-3.

Jackson added his second of the game in the third for the Thunder.

Athan Iannucci had the team’s other goal.

Burnaby was 2-for-8 on the power play while Langley was 1-for-5.

Next up for the Thunder is a home game on June 26 at the LEC against the Coquitlam Adanacs. Game time is 7:45 p.m.
