The Langley Thunder’s playoff hopes took a blow on Wednesday night as they could not complete the comeback.
The Thunder scored three straight goals in less than a minute but could not notch the equalizer, falling 8-7 to the New Westminster Salmonbellies in senior A Western Lacrosse Association play at the Langley Events Centre.
The loss dropped Langley to 7-8 with three games to play. The Thunder are just two points out of second place but also find themselves only two points ahead of sixth place. The top four teams make the post-season but the other four squads they are battling with all have games in hand.
Langley never led against New Westminster and trailed by as many as four goals.
Pat Saunders led the offence with two goals and five points while Lewis Ratcliff chipped in with a pair of goals and a helper.
The Thunder’s next game is against Nanaimo on July 22 at the LEC.
