The Nanaimo Timbermen opened and closed the scoring, but that was not enough to slow the Langley Thunder, who scored seven goals in between to post a 7-5 victory in senior A Western Lacrosse Association action.
The two teams were playing at the Langley Events Centre on May 29 with the win improving the Thunder to 3-0 on the season while Nanaimo fell to 1-2.
Ryan Keith got the visitors on the board 2:17 into the contest, but the Thunder responded with four goals to close the period as Joel McCready, Alex Turner, Shayne Jackson and Garrett Billings all found the back of the net.
And the second period was much of the same as Athan Iannucci scored twice and Billings added his second of the game to built a 7-1 lead.
Nanaimo’s Blake Kenny cut the lead to five after two periods and Myles Kenny, Mike Berekoff and Blake Kenny scored in the third for the 7-5 score.
The Timbermen scored three times in eight power-play chances while Langley was 2-for-5.
Brodie MacDonald made 35 saves in the win.
The Thunder are next in action on May 31 as they travel to Victoria to face the 3-0 Shamrocks.
