Thunderbirds, Giants can’t figure out a winner

Fraser Valley major midget hockey team plays to pair of ties over the weekend

The Fraser Valley Thunderbirds and the Vancouver Northwest Giants played 120 minutes of hockey over the weekend to a standstill.

The teams skated to a 1-1 draw on Saturday at the North Shore Winter Club.

And while the rematch the next day at the Abbotsford Recreation Centre featured more goals, there was still no winner as the game ended in a 5-5 draw.

The Thunderbirds sit at 10-8-6 in the B.C. Major Midget Hockey League.

Misson’s Jamie Housch had the lone goal in the first game.

Langley’s Jonathan Stein had a pair of helpers in the second contest, while Brendan Black — an affiliate player from Langley — scored once.

Other Thunderbird goals came from Ryan Crosby-Jones, Zac McKee, Kyle Davis and Mackenzie Wight.

Fraser Valley plays a pair of games this weekend against the Vancouver Northeast Chiefs.
