Local boy Ryder Hesjedal nudged ahead one spot today, finishing in 37th place overall in the Tour de France.
Greater Victoria native Hesjedal was the 97th rider to cross the line in the 13th stage and now sits 18 minutes, 54 seconds behind the leader of the tour, Thomas Voeckler, overall. Hesjedal’s teammate Thor Hushvod of Norway finished the stage first for the eighth straight time, finishing seven and a half minutes before Hesjedal.
Hushvod’s performance helped team Garmin-Cervelo remain in the Tour’s top spot, with a combined time so far of 166 hours, 54 minutes and 52 seconds.
Tomorrow’s stage from Saint-Gaudens to Plateau de Beille features six tough hills.
