The Nanaimo Track and Field Club will enjoy home-track advantage this weekend.
The club is putting on its annual Elwood Wylie Memorial Track and Field Meet on Saturday (May 26) and Sunday at Rotary Bowl stadium.
Events run from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, highlighted by the 100-metre dash finals at 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday’s action goes from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
In other club news, Nanaimo athletes had strong showings at the Dogwood Track and Field Meet in Victoria May 12-13. Results include:
Nine-year-olds – Paige Higgins, first, high jump; Brett Schlitz, first, high jump, first, 600 metres, first, 60m hurdles, first, shot put.
10-year-olds – Makayla Mitchell, first, 600m, first, 800m race walk, first, shot put; Keaton Heisterman, first, 60m, first, 1,000m, first, discus; Ethan Katzberg, first, high jump, first, long jump, first, javelin.
