Familiarity led to success for local athletes at the annual Twisters Invitational event earlier this month.

Twisters gymnasts excelled at the event, which ran March 17 to 19 and March 24 to 26 at Abbotsford Exhibition Park.

Twisters female athletes were up first, and the club earned 37 medals competing against athletes from all over the province and Saskatchewan.

Abbotsford’s Emily Moorthy, Jordis Kliewer, Mikhayla Rosenow and Samantha Reitsema all earned a position on Team BC to compete at the 2017 Western Canadian Championships.

The male athletes hit the floor last weekend, with approximately 156 athletes competing from B.C. and Saskatchewan.
