Twisters gymnasts shine at B.C. Winter Games

Once again, Twisters athletes celebrate their resounding success. At the B.C. Winter Games the boys team literally cleaned up.

Gold, silver, and bronze medals for the all-around scores all went to Twisters athletes. One Twisters athlete from the women’s competitive team also competed and placed 7th out of 30 athletes.

Last weekend, at the Surrey Classic Invitational, Twisters athletes brought home 30 medals from the men’s side and 14 on the women’s side.

The women’s Provincial level 2 Tyro team brought home a third place trophy.

Last weekend was a Provincial 2 zone trial to Provincial Championships for the women’s team. The top six all-around athletes move on.

Congratulations to Lizann Steenkamp and Jadyn Ansell of Abbotsford and Paula Melger-Ida of Aldergrove for earning the opportunity to compete at the 2012 B.C. Championships.

For the boys, it was a High Performance Argo, National Youth, Open, and HP Tyro trial to Canadian Championships. Six members of the men’s team move on.  Congratulations to Ken Ikeda, Nicolas Garfias, Dawson Friesen, Cohen Kiers of Abbotsford, Steven Chaplin of Mission, and Zachary Clay of Chilliwack.

Individual results for the women’s team from Aldergrove include: Carissa Williams (provincial level 4 Novice): gold on floor; Paula Melger-Ida (provincial level 2 Tyro): silver on beam and floor.

The results of the North Shore Invitational include, from Aldergrove, Carissa Williams (Provincial 4 Novice) won gold on vault and floor, silver on beam, and bronze all-around. Paula Melger-Ida won bronze on floor and beam.

TWISTERS HOST INVITATIONAL MEET

The 17th annual Twisters Invitational Competition comes to the Ag Rec Building, Exhibition Park, 32470 Haida Drive, Abbotsford on March 22-25.

These will be the trials to Western Canadian Championships as well as the National Championships.
