Trinity Western University is in the market for a new athletic director.
Murray Hall has been asked to step down after serving 32 years, the majority of that time as head of Spartan Athletics.
“In the process of implementing a new strategic approach, we have asked Murray Hall to step down from his position as director for Spartan Athletics and work with me as we transition to new leadership,” said Blair Whitmarsh, TWU’s dean of human kinetics.
“(Murray) has led the department through many difficult challenges of growth. In particular, he guided us through the transition from competing in the college league to becoming one of the best university athletic programs in the CIS.
“We are very thankful for his efforts over the years.”
During his time, Hall saw TWU’s athletics department grow from a minor program in the British Columbia Colleges Athletic Association (BCCAA) to a prominent program in Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS).
The Spartans, who entered CIS competition in 1999–2000, have earned nine CIS national championships, 28 CIS championship medals, and 47 Canada West championship medals.
This past season, seven of their 10 programs ranked in the CIS Top Ten.
