Chilliwack FC’s U-13 Attack ended their season successfully, winning bronze at the Provincial B Cup tournament that was held July 4-7 in North Vancouver.
The girls qualified for this tournament in their first year in the BC Coastal Girls Soccer League, and quickly showed they belonged with decisive wins over the Kootenay Rovers (5-0) and Quesnel Strikers (8-1).
A 3-1 loss to the Marpole Phoenix knocked them out of championship contention, but they stayed in the mix for bronze.
A Sunday matchup pitted them against Vernon United. Aly LeBlanc scored the game’s only goal and Olivia Nicol was unbeatable in net as Chilliwack won 1-0.
Chilliwack scored more goals, 15, than any other team in the tournament. With only two girls graduating and three promising recruits on the horizon, the Attack believe they can turn bronze into gold next season.
The team resumes training in August.
